WASHINGTON – Cubs catcher Carlos Ruiz hit a two-run homer to lift the Chicago Cubs to a 2-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night.

The Cubs’ Carlos Ruisiz (0-3) hit a leadoff homer off Aaron Blair in the sixth inning.
Ruiz added a solo shot in the eighth inning.
He now has a .351 on-base percentage in eight games since coming off the disabled list.
Blair is 0-5 with a 4.18 ERA.
Pirates starter Aaron Bloch (5-5) allowed two runs on three hits and six walks over three innings.
