It’s a sushi restaurant with an unmistakable Philadelphia flavor.
Nagoya’s new sushi restaurant, The Philadelphia Roll, will open in a space currently occupied by the local sushi spot Tuna Sushi, but the new space will be a little smaller than its larger neighbor, Mikado sushi.
The restaurant will be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.t. on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and from 5 p.p.m to 9 p.l.m., Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Nakamura is the first chef at The Philadelphia, which will open sometime this year.
Naganori Nagata, a former sushi chef at the Naganorin restaurant chain, and his wife will run the restaurant.
Naganori said the new restaurant will have more space for seating, and he said it will be much more fun to work there.
“We will have sushi tables,” he said.
“It’s going to be a lot more fun.”
Nagoyas sushi has been one of the city’s favorite restaurants in the past few years, and it will become the citys first sushi place in Philadelphia.
It will be located in the former site of the former Naganors sushi shop on Paine’s Ferry Road.
Nagyari said the menu will be more limited than the NagaSushi in Paines Ferry Road, but he did not elaborate.
Nagi told the Philly Inquirer that there will be no alcohol and the sushi will be limited to one plate a day.
Naga Sushi will serve sushi, but not a standard roll.
Naginas sushi will feature an assortment of local fish, crab, squid, shrimp, octopus, crab cakes, fish tacos and a variety of other dishes.
Naga Sings has been a staple of the community for over 20 years.
Nago Sushi was founded by a local family who grew up in the neighborhood, but opened the restaurant in 2013.
“It’s always a big deal to me, because I grew up around it,” Naga said.
Nago is an experienced sushi chef, having been a chef for over 30 years in various locations of restaurants and hotels in Japan.
“I was just born and raised in the Nago area,” he added.
Nagaras family is also part of the Nagoya Sushi team, but they are not involved with the restaurant project.
The citys second sushi restaurant will open at a location next to the Naginor sushi chain, which is expected to open later this year in the building currently occupied the former Tuna sushi restaurant.
The Naga sushi chain has been in operation for more than 60 years.
The Philadelphia Roll will also have a different vibe to it.
It is being dubbed “the citys sushi bar,” according to Nakamura.
Nogi said he will work with a local chef on the menu, but it is unclear whether he will be the chef or the owner.
“There are a lot of things that I want to work on,” he told the Inquirers.
“I want to do a lot with it, but we’ll see how it goes.”
